No, Texas's ban on AI generated child images will NOT help children. The reason why real child images are banned, is predicated on the assumption that real children are harmed in the creation process. AI images do NOT require real models, and thus does not cause harm. However, banning AI generated child images WILL be used to ban things... That literally aren't child images. It will be stretched to include adults, non sexual images, and anything else that can be twisted into the definition of abuse.
