There is something about the interplay of _hallucination, imagination,_ and the ability for _self-doubt_ that is fundamentally missing in all LLMs so far.
Humans who can't distinguish hallucinations and imagination have a medical descriptor: _psychosis._
But imagination is the source of both _fiction_ and _problem solving_ (i.e. creative processes)
And being able to notice and doubt our own thoughts is how we revise and bring forward this cranial creativity into the real world.
A lack of an ability to check ones own ideas when trying to achieve some goal is the essence of not having what we call _common sense_
And producing the output "i'm uncertain" or "I don't know" lies at the very surface of it.
