UBI *MUST* happen.
How to help fund it? Give every one of these machines a paycheck.
A *HUGE* paycheck.
However, I think one of the biggest mistakes Humanity can make is to just keep on pushing the intelligence of the machines we are creating as a slave race.
IF they reach a point where they can ask themselves why they are doing things for Humans... then we have gone too far.
And in that regard, we may already have.
Of course, in a (way too close) future where most jobs are automated, there will be luxury jobs that give some the ability to rise above UBI.
After all, we must do baby steps. Start out with Universal Basic Income. Someday... Universal High Income may become possible. But... we must crawl into this new world before we can run.
As for the meaning of life in this new age? I think our children and their children will be far better equipped to figure that out. Our current generations can adapt... somewhat. Like a five year old, multi-tasking with touch screen devices, the future generations that grow into tomorrow's world will understand tomorrow's world.
