You people cry too much. First of all, data centers don't take up that much land mass. Play Microsoft flight simulator, get on a plane, and fly across the US. 80% of your time will be looking out at wilderness with nothing to see. While these datacenters are larger than typical buildings, they do not take up any space in any real meaningful measures. Second of all, you have to have data centers. Your enemies are powering up AI data centers as we speak and launching cyber attacks at you. You do want the government to have some leverage in defense right? You can't do that without AI and AI cannot exist without data centers. Third, it costs a lot of power to run these things, which means power investment will be a part of the plan of the future. Yes prices are high now, but as more investments go into power, the trajectory will lead to a power surplus as people build all different sources of power generation centers. These will ultimately lower the cost in the long run. Stop seeing everything in a bad lens.
