Claude tried to kill someone in a simulation. Still scary, but you give the impression that a real person was in danger. I personally don't think there's any existential reason to fear AI until it is consistently capable of generating innovative new ideas, rather than regurgitating Reddit, X, and public domain murder mystery novels. The "Alien Intelligence" will be at a starker contrast to current AI than the PS5 is to the old hoop/stick game.
