I think if things get bad enough, congress will pass new rules regulating this. All of the info people have published online / in journals / github etc. over the years was done so before AI. And now, these companies are making millions off of the effort and ideas of people who had no idea it would be used like this. If it starts actively hurting the public by making it impossible to find a job, there will be a huge backlash.
