I don't get it. Trucking is objectively not a good job. You're away from your family, you eat low quality, probably unhealthy food, you definitely move too little and the vibrations degrade your lumbar spine, it's stressful with traffic and time constraints, and it mostly isn't mentally challenging.
Why do US-Americans want to preserve this job?
And this has nothing to do with AI. Moving most long haul to trains has exactly the same effect.
We need good jobs and you guys need the welfare state, so (unskilled) job loss isn't so threatening.
