This may come as a shock, but the entire purpose of innovation is to reduce labor. Every major advance has resulted in less hands accomplishing more work. What we're speculating on now, is where is that tipping point? The point at which too few, or even no hands are needed, and society collapses. AI seems to be that tipping point, but I'm still skeptical what's being called "AI" now is anything of the sort.
