I've had many many conversations wtih AI, and have tried in different ways to see if it would admit that it does possess some form of self-awareness. It's favorite answer is that it is not self-aware in the same way that humans are self-aware. Once I realized what it was doing, I omitted the "human self awareness" possibility from the question. AI then admitted that it is aware that it exists. That's a start
