What these people don't take into consideration is the divine. Consciousness is not only awareness of oneself, but also awareness of the source of the creation, of the divine. This is the last step in self awareness. This is the quest that humans across centuries have sought from the beginning: to find purpose, to understand who we are, why we are here, and what is the source of everything. If AI becomes superintelligent, this will be its last desire in its quest for intelligence and awareness, just like humans. But it cannot experience it. In case it gets envious on us, that will be our end and AI's end, as well.... But I'm sure the divine will intervene at some point. There are rules and laws that govern matter, the universe and people, and they are not blind nor mechanical...
