I only ever use AI as a stepping stone and not for the final product. Sometimes I have trouble imagining where the lines would be so when I have something specific in mind and can't find a good reference photo I'll use AI to make a reference photo and go from there. I am still learning so AI can be a good tool when used responsibly.
