While I haven’t been taken advantage of in the era of AI thus far, I was approached MANY times when I was younger by people who expected me to contribute my talents for free, in more than one medium. AI has changed the game significantly and made things worse in many ways, but the tendency of ambitious, famous, and/or wealthy people to pressure artists into contributing work for nothing is a tale as old as time. If you do anything creative, you need to remain on your guard against people who try to use you, even if it seems like they have your best interests at heart or if AI isn’t part of the conversation.
