Fascinating conversation! But it’s worth remembering that there are dimensions beyond technology or simulation. The soul, for instance, escapes every algorithm — it carries us through many lives, not just this one. However far reason and computation may reach, something essential remains ungraspable and unknowable — and that may be the very heart of what it means to be human.
The idea of immortality sounds so flat to me. Why would I want to stretch one life forever, when I can reincarnate into many? Different bodies, genders, countries, and time periods — that’s far richer than eternal sameness. And yes, I’m curious about death too, but not as a heaven-or-hell scenario. For me it’s the meeting with my own soul, with others, and with the world I came from before being born.
