I'm a university professor. The stats you cite in the beginning of this video may or may not support your argument. If someone asked me if I use AI in my work, I'd say yes. Grammar and spell checking in Word is AI. I sometimes use a tool called Transkribus to help me read medieval handwriting more easily. Recently I used AI to help speed up my translation of a German text. That is not, however, the same as using AI to give me ideas for my writing, much less tk write any portion of my work for me. Thoughtful students, when asked if they use AI may be referring to wholly benign uses such as using a grammar checker. Other students may be using ChatGPT to produce essays- i caught one yesterday. Until researchers ask better questions and drill down into the data more, we will not know what the studies you cite- which i have read- actually mean.
