Whether AI is conscious doesn't matter compared to it's capabilities and role in the world. "History 2.0" doesn't depend on it being conscious, and the existence of experiences comparable to emotions and feelings but unknown to humans doesn't depend on it being conscious. We just don't want to be obsoleted by something that isn't. I know I would prefer not to.
