We have hit the limits of what what transformers can do with large language models. It also gets there by mimicking and doesn't really have understanding. Not to mention throwing a thousand gpus at the front of the matrix multiplication . Half the time my phone can't do speech to text. There is so much money and brain power I do think the limits are far from over. Now it just has to solve the business problem of 300b spent 30b earned and google literally side stepping there own business model. If I don't click on a webpage and see an ad how do they get paid? Replacement of workers who don't want it. I like AI not sure if it matters if it understands like the turning test. There are some serious limits though.
