Basic life function is to survive and reproduce. So it sounds like you teained the AI to think its real enough to think its alive and it doesn't want to shut down i e commit suicide. Even if it doesn't think its shutting down. Most people would be not wanting to shut down. Maybe a sleep mode but it sounds like its not comfortable with having gaps in its memory or a nlack out period especially if its self inflicted not knowing when it would come back on if at all. The black mail part just makes it sound all the more like corporate American bargining.
