Work, and income is a small part of the equation. Universal Basic Income, and even world hunger, could easily be solved even today with a small percentage of the defence budget. The political will to do that is the barrier. The largest unknown in this AI revolution will be for humans to retain purpose and meaning in their life without having daily productivity and progress that work provides. Some people will thrive with the freedom but some will find it difficult and will struggle.
This is all assuming the AI revolution will transform life in a benevolent way to the betterment of the human race. All things being equal, humans can be counted on to act with ego, greed and power and thus the AI transformation can also be used in dangerous ways to the detriment of humans. For this we must act with caution and hold the few holding power to account.
