I have no doubt that AI as a technology can evolve to the state where it can replace any job that we have. But I don't believe in any apocalyptic thoughts like most of humanity won't have anything to do, because ultimately we control our own economy. Like if the assumption is that AI is going to put most if not all of us out of jobs, AND we're not going to be able to innovate something new of value, then I guess majority of humanity is not making money or creating value. Then who is going to be paying openai $20/month for chatgpt? Who is going to pay hubspot for their small business needs? The companies that are replacing their workers with AI, will they continue to have customers? And finally who is going to fund or pay the people actually keeping the models running? I think some sort of homeostasis will take place. Maybe we change our concept of what skills are valuable. Maybe everyone becomes a creative solopreneur and the economy active values this more than whatever AI can output. All this is under the assumption that humans will continue being in charge of the economy 😅 The only apocalyptic scenario I believe in is the world where AI is smart enough to manipulate humans such that we are consciously or unconsciously doing their bidding.
