I propose a solution. A ‘robot’ should be assessed to evaluate how many workers it replaces and given a taxpayer identification. Deem the robot to be Gainfully employed for 14 hrs per day ( allow for maintainance and outages) and set the robots pay rate at the minimum wage. Ie the robot would be deemed to earn the minimum wage for X number of workers for 14 hrs every working day. The robot, of course, having no need on income would be taxed at 100%, which will help distribute the wealth. Keynes believed that by 2030, we would need only a 15 hour working week but he didn’t factor in the possibility that our society would become so egregiously unfair as it has become.
