To be fair, digital copyright is a mess. One needs to provide access to their creation so people can use it, but doesn't always have the tools to limit how it is being used. What you do to protect your work is perfectly reasonable, it's on the AI companies to provide a service that works. We need to build the systems that allow for mutual consent for use of information but human nature is wired for exploitation and fixing immediate problems. Higher level thinking always comes later.
