I don’t think AI is going to wipe out the working class. AI can only do so much. There are industries where AI isn’t allowed, like in jurisdictions of the legal system, where people have to attest that they aren’t using LLMs to create the pleadings that they’re submitting to courthouses.
Robots cost money to buy and money to maintain and repair. What companies have the cash to spend on even one robot for? Not every company is an Amazon or Meta or Google or Tesla.
If anything, an influx of robots could create more blue collar jobs and white collar jobs. You need people who can build, maintain and repair the robots’ hardware. You need people who can program and maintain the software.
And I hate to break it to you, Bernie, but yes. It is still science fiction. You’re naming edge cases right now. You aren’t taking into account the nuts and bolts and dollars and cents involved with replacing everyone with a toaster, sentient or otherwise. You tell us…what robots or AI are certified to work autonomously in healthcare? Where are they? Show us the PROOF.
