That is true. We used real dictionaries, logic and other languages we know to translate and remember some third language. We practically used mnemonic techniques to learn and study languages and other things. We used our brains. And we still do.
Some people who studied programming tried to rely on AI to make a shortcut to their work and then they realized that AI male mistakes about programming 😂 that was a hilarious cognition.
