I really, REALLY despise the idea of having to have a gift to be good at something. No matter if it's art, sports, music or whatever if you work on it and not have some severe handicap, you will become better and better and better.
Perhaps you need a gift to become one of the very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very best but reaching AI level is pretty much possible for everyone, if one is willing to put in the effort.
AI is just an easy way out.
