Good arguments I have to say. However, AI IS a tool no matter how you see it. The human element is the vision that you possess and then using these tools to sculpt it...just by generating images based on prompts is all fine and well, but there is still plenty of room to modify, adjust, represent it in your own unique way, which is dependent on someone interest, and whether they are willing to invest time to explore their own creativity and not just to "consume" or "live at the end result skipping everything" from only one image generation or several, because whatever the AI is generating doesn't automatically align with an artist's vision or style that they are looking for (body composition, poses, art direction, color schemes, environmental factors...you name it) Even when writing or doing poetry...you see where this is going. Back then it is true, people wanted to become astronauts and doctors, or had their TV screens bombard them with a lot of rubbish you weren't even in control of...and what has that brought us ? People still exhibit the same tendencies when scrolling to watch mindless entertainment which perhaps for all the arguments...someone might need to watch through and be reminded how these silly videos and media are also part of humanity...just being silly and not be taken too seriously. But childish dreams more often than not, change depending on a person's experience. So yeah even if they decide to test the waters of becoming Youtubers or influencers....they might soon learn how reality looks like, because you are under the the scope of people, judging you or criticizing your content, or have ridiculous expectations, and that does put a lot of people of and AI cannot save you, because people are fundamentally interested to learn more about the person owning a channel at some point, and you still have to give it your own voice. Many did end up becoming doctors...but a LOT less became astronauts. You get my point ? One Influencer who genuinely helped someone during their hardships in their lives, with either entertainment or self help content is much more valuable than a dude who is floating in space, and is doing God knows what up there. So this whole "Glamour" of becoming a doctor or astronaut has faded away after decades...for very good reasons. And for your friend using chatgpt, to bypass the challenge of writing it sounding like a 23 year old. Isn't that what we always wanted though ? Not to deal with assignments that torture and waste our precious time, just to get better marks or credits in order to focus on the things that really matter in our lives ? Because back in the day I sure did, heck even Politicians are reading screens filled with text or reading ready made text from their secretaries just to appeal to the masses, I am just saying...and they are running countries. It's not only important what you create, but also how you present it and what identity you give it, and that is where AI can't do it all and completely on it's own. YOU have to still lay out the ground for it to flourish. If it doesn't align with an artist vision or a person's goals...then that person still has to be spent time, refining, tweaking, implement different angles and so on. For example if I create a power point presentation through AI which is tailored to what I would like for it to look like...and then am garbage myself because of social anxiety and lack of communication skills, or not putting my personality into the presentation itself....no matter how great the data is constructed...that will not appeal to the masses now will it ? My point is AI can help excavate your creative visions and it can help you learn and experience areas, which would be otherwise very hard or time consuming to do so, since most jobs consume a huge chunk of our lives, the fact still remains a person still has to decide what direction their creative process wants to take, and guess what that can still be a whole creative process to say the least. Just because you have a shortcut doesn't mean it can't be considered creative or challenging. Just as there are AI slobs, there are more creative avenues being used to get pretty decent results so far. AI can guide, assist you, can create learning models and practices etc. What it means to be human can vastly differ depending on circumstances, and goals of an individual or group of people. AI in it's intention and purposes IS a tool....humans are using it to shape their visions and we are giving meaning to what it presents...no more no less. It's just a lot less time consuming and faster than the usual methods we are acquainted with. Otherwise, what can I say, don't use Google or other search engines at all if that is the case...it's more challenging and "human" to go to the library and search what you are looking for, and spent weeks or months gathering the data, and create whatever you have in mind then, through finding the right passages and skimming through endless pages, until you find what you are looking for in the hopes that it can help you get what you want...go for it if that defines your humanity and struggle then. Oh and don't use photographs either by the way, because that makes it too easy. Right down everything you read.
