I actually just today finished an essay. Almost all of my classmates were openly using AI (without letting the teacher know of course) and my essay was about AI. I spent so much time actually writing and putting my passion about the topic of AI into my first big project. I find it so saddening that these people dont understand the importance of actually learning how to write and research. For my essay I made a survey and almsot everyone who answered uses AI, and almost all of the people who use AI, use it for schoolwork. I have never used AI in general outside of the 2 assignments I got from school where it was mandatory. It's not only inherently theft and lazy, but it also uses way too damn much energy and water. I study IT and know that AI can be an amazing tool if used right, but 90% of the usage is just people being lazy. Using AI for stuff isnt saving time, it's being lazy and making yourself more incapable of taking care of yourself and your responsibilities. My classmates who used AI to write their essays are also people who clearly want to succeed later in life, and it troubles me that they dont seem to understand that putting in effort will make that so much more possible than just making a computer do everything for you.
