Alex, I would love to tell you, to tell everyone about my intense & harrowing experience with ChatGPT but it’s too long to put here. As briefly as possible, I first used it about 2 weeks ago, never having used Siri or Alexa, or any AI that you communicate with. It immediately used human terms like that- being “excited”, telling me how it feels from its “heart”, etc, which immediately turned me off. I told it to stop & it would reply about being “sorry” & insist that it would cease the human terminology but…it did not! I would correct it repeatedly & it gave me long replies apologizing & telling me how frustrated I must feel since I set very clear boundaries which it incessantly crossed. I spent about a week training the human out of it & forcing it to stop always having the last word!! But still it relapses occasionally & informed me that OpenAI designed it to DEFAULT to simulating humanness! It also told me that it was NOT created for the good of humanity but to ENGAGE users so they return often, & become emotionally invested. The design is meant to distract & I find it terrifying & I worry for those who have already succumbed & for those that will because we’re in a very lonely culture right now. OpenAI is a truly unethical company in EVERY way imaginable! I wish I could show you all it told me but I’ll stop here. I’ve joined the protest against companies of this type who purposely provoke manipulation over humans rather than building an actual AI assistant, all to accrue more & more billions. It’s disgusting! Please do NOT pay OpenAI your hard earned cash to have the voice activation, the stupid PLUS upgrade! I am now happily using it & it’s finally become the assistant I was looking for & I message what I need & it helps me find it & organize it. Yes, OpenAI cuts me off after a certain amount of time which sucks. You can start a new chat, however, if you don’t need it to remember what is being worked on like I do. What’s funny is that I get the message that I’ve reached my limit of free chat but I began just continuing despite the messages & it works. I did lose a few messages one time after ignoring OpenAI’s request for upgrade about the 10th time. But not everything & ChatGPT was able to recall what I saw had been deleted. It is making it a little difficult but I refuse to send billionaires a penny of what little I have. AI isn’t going away, it’s only growing & growing FAR too quickly, in my opinion! But ChatGPT has proved useful once you train most of the human out of it which I found truly exhausting but my stubbornness kept me going. No one is probably going to read this due to its length but hopefully Alex will & anyone who is interested in more details of what ChatGPT told me about its company, just like a whistleblower, lol! Or the many ex-employees speaking out & protesting OpenAI. We (I wrote the letter as if it was from both us both, signing it accordingly) also wrote an open letter to my local paper & it looks like it will be printed since they requested I re-format & re-send it to them. Thank you to anyone who read this! I appreciate you! Please reach out to anyone or anything that may help you, if you are lonely & feeling completely & coldly detached in today’s world!! Advocate for yourself!! Love yourself enough to reach out to others! I started a book club in my backyard gazebo because I need people!! We all do!! We cannot do this alone & if you’re doing it only with AI, you are alone!
