Let's all take a breath. Chatgpt isn't thinking. It's not self aware. It's just an amazing chat bot. After reading everything on the internet all it's done is learn how to mimic what a human might most likely say to a prompt. Yes, it has all the world's knowledge that it can spit out, but it's not capable of creating its own goals, because it is not self aware and doesn't have ambition. Ask it to write a poem. Yes it can spit out some rhymes, but you'll notice they are basic, the kind of stuff an 8th grader comes up with. It doesn't have subtlety, nuance, innuendo. It doesn't have a hint of irony or biting humor. It lacks spirit. The AI is not going to decide to destroy humans. It might say it will, but that's because it's drawing from our own paranoia, our own media where we've taught it that that's the inevitable conclusion. All AI is is Alexa on steroids. Chill.
