" I am not clear on what the interviewer has been trying to suggest, but it seems like nothing more than, "Why can't we just change the definition of what consciousness is so that it includes AI?" and Penrose has been trying to explain that there really is a thing that consciousness is, and regardless how you change the word you use, that thing - the very thing itself, consciousness - is something we have and AI does not.
