I wasn't familiar with your channel, but I'm glad YouTube recommended it. Since you are an art-type channel, rather than one devoted to coloring--I wanted to point out the proliferation of AI-generated coloring books. They are everywhere--not only on sites like Amazon, but on Etsy where you're supposed to be selling original art and crafts! Some sellers of AI art at least went to the trouble of editing or eliminating the truly F-upped images (but a lot don't except for the cover or ad illustrations). The artwork often mimics the artwork of real artists--many who produce actual hand-drawn artwork. Let's talk about portraits or fantasy images. The difference between artist and AI , once you see several examples of the work, is that while an artist will have a identifiable style, the AI will often have actual duplications. There is an "AI face" I'm seeing in the faked illustrations of women and children in particular. In a collection, the same image may be enlarged or shrunk, with small variations in the backgrounds, but basically the work looks like the kind of selection you get when typing the same or similar prompt into a generator that will then spit out several variations on the prompt. I ordered some of these AI generated coloring books (usually sold at a pittance as downloadable files) because I didn't realize right away what I was ordering (they don't always make it explicit). For fun, I have ordered a few things I knew were compiled by someone from sources like Shutterstock and photoshopped or edited in by a person to create fun images. Maybe not exactly original art, but at least a human being had to go to the trouble of putting these pictures together instead of lazily slapping whatever a computer program came up with and then selling it as original artwork. A lot of these images (except for "AI face") directly mimic the work of actual manual or graphic artists--but cheaper. As more and more people find producing these kinds of coloring books very lucrative for very little effort, they are starting to crowd out the original artworks more and more. I belong to a Adult Coloring Facebook group, and even though it was started by an actual coloring book artist to promote her work and website, she generally allows people to post art that they colored from other sources with credit, and any original artwork the person did themselves. More and more, not only do I see a lot of AI images posted, it is clear that many of the colorists who have purchased these pictures, are under the impression that they are the creation of a very talented HUMAN artist. Some of these images are hand-colored, some digitally, but we are getting more and more full color pictures labelled "created by" with the poster's name attached, where it is CLEAR they produced a full color image from the get-go. These images are started to crowd out the forum, and other forums dedicated to art or adult coloring. And because the goal of these groups is to provide a positive, safe, and nurturing platform for its members, I can't say anything about the number of completely AI pictures being posted and being passed off as original artwork. Look, AI can be fun, and there are probably ways it can be used by artists in a way that it is just another tool in the creative process. Maybe artists can train the AI by feeding it the artist's own work, and then re-editing what the AI produced--from the artists' OWN work...I don't know. But I'm getting fed up by the sheer laziness and disrespect of people who just post whatever AI garbage the program can come up with, and then have the nerve to disparage the real artists whose work was probably ripped off.
