I think one of the most shocking insights Hao articulates in this interview is that OpenAI's insistence on gargantuan resource use was AGAINST best practices 10 years ago. Their methodology is actually the opposite of efficiency and sophistication. And for the most part, NOBODY EVEN WANTS THIS!
