We cant apply this thinking worldwide, whats happening in silicon valley is not applicable to the rest of the world. Im in the IT space and excited about AI - i spend most my time debugging my own code, now im simply debugging or rewriting code produced by AI. I've increased my speed and that is all. more often then not I cant actually use the code being produced anyway and need to rewrite it, to rewrite you need to have business context alongside programming skills. So i dont buy the hype - our lives will becomes easier, but layoffs are done for the benefit of the shareholder, not because of amazing AI
