Oof. This AI iceberg genuinely gets so depressing to explore that it's one of the topics I kind of struggle to want to hear about at all.
I mean, - I do follow news on.. The worst things, the greatest sufferings that occur on this planet, - and keep myself well-educated on such instances of the past, - and those subjects are not any less depressing.
Maybe what depresses me so hard about this AI-gone-loose threat that I used to dismiss as fantasy, - is that it's a new thing to consider.
As if wars, genocide, on-going colonialism, poverty, collapsing public infrastructure and healthcare in several countries, homelessness, the climate change, the real-time ecological collapse we're seeing etc. weren't enough bad news, this AI bullshit on top just really. Really. Makes it feel too much.
Oh well. Can't give up on life. People come from harder to live places than me and never give up, I have no business giving up either, we must carry on for each others' sake.
Whatever comes, we will see both good and bad things from the ways it changes the world. We will see new suffering, but we will also see new reasons to feel hopeful etc.
Reality is always like. Really layered and multidimensional like that.
