You were drawing Pukei Pukei here, and I think monster hunter is actually a really cool way to actually express this idea.
If Gen-AI made a monster, the depth of that monster would boil down to "This is a pattern that the AI has recognized in other monsters, and recreated here"
When the human made monsters have a lot of thought into what they are, what ecological niches they fill, how their fantastical elements contribute to their place in a wider world.
Pukei Pukei isn't a poisonous chameleon bird because it was arbitrarily decided; it's a chameleon because camouflage will help it hunt, and poison helps it deter other predators and also helps it hunt.
Somebody put a lot of thought and care into how to make this thing fantastical, but still believable.
