I do not see AI replacing skilled labor. Carpenters, plumbers, electricians, roofers, landscapers to name a few. So, writing code as a career move seems extremely futile. BTW: As for the safety of driverless cars, let me ask how many people would board an aircraft with no pilot and/or co-pilot?
