For me, I’m not tired of AI, and I don’t dislike it in itself. It actually helps me a lot, especially with university work. I’m someone who can’t really focus during lectures and struggles to take notes, so uploading the lecture slides and asking AI to explain things helps me understand the topics much better. Of course, I still have to attend the lectures because there’s information the AI doesn’t have, but it’s a great additional tool. What I do dislike, though, is the hype around AI both the overhype and the fear. People act like AI will replace everything and that no one is safe. Take art, for example. Yes, AI can create its “own” art by copying and combining the styles of different artists, but before AI, didn’t people already trace or heavily reference other works? It’s the same thing. Artists won’t be replaced, because what makes art impressive is that it’s made by a human being. It’s the same with sports. Some people saw those Chinese robots boxing and said that in the future we won’t even have humans competing anymore. But the whole point of sports is to find out who the best human is in that field. What’s stopping anyone from just putting an AI in a 3D environment and letting it box right now? Nothing. It’s the same concept. And in computer science, people think the field will become irrelevant or that AI will replace programmers. It won’t. Sure, some areas will become less important, but AI itself creates new ones or makes existing fields, like machine learning, even more important. AI can’t truly invent anything new on its own. It works based on what humans have already created. At least with how it functions today, it can’t go beyond that. People treat AI like it’s becoming some new conscious being capable of everything, but it’s not. It will never be more than what humans already are, because humans are its reference point and AI has no consciousness of its own.
