The whole goal is to reach an artificial general intelligence and then whoever creates it either USA or China will be the only power worth caring about, they will basically own and operate the entire world. Everyone who is not tied in to AI like Japan or Taiwan or isn't in the EU will basically be competely fucked because they will have no hand on the wheel and everything they make or do will be broadly irrelevant.
