My view on AI is that yes, it is a tool. It is a tool that needs a lot of follow up work after it. I think using AI is a decent thing to do for getting a starting point. Once you have your starting point, it is up to you, the artist, to make changes to it so that it is unique and doesn't look like crap. AI is good for getting the grunt work out of the way, not the creative part of it too.
