When i think about AI and growing it i think back to a anime called "Sword Art Online 2" where there`s a military platform out in the sea where they where experimenting with AI and so they had made a digital world where they taught i think 8 ai from an infant faze (In SAO they have a helmet that allows you to go into a game world with full feeling and senses as your body "sleeps" so you can feel pain (usually there`s a limiter on the pain) eat food and taste it and battle and have choreography but its all in a game world) by 2 humans and once the AI was ready to self propagate and live/grow into the world the humans "died off" and they sped up the world to see how the AI would live and grow. but the experiment was to create ai soldiers to take over the roles of people so less people would die in war.
