The race is between humans, Mother Nature, and the universe. Option 1: humans wipe out humanity all on their own with AI, nuclear wars, biological wars with viruses or fungi, etc. Option 2: If humans don't wipe themselves out, then nature will with deep freezes or over heating or loss of ozone, plant life dying out, etc. Option 3: if humans and nature both fail at wiping out humanity, then the universe will step in and get it done...just like it did with the dinosaurs...meteorites, sun fading out, Earth getting too cold or running out of oxygen/water (becoming like Mars is now), etc. We cannot escape our own extinction. It's coming, we just don't know how. 🙃
