As a neural net developer I respect her, but she is downplaying the risks far too much. Moving forward while dismissing AGI as mere “rebranding” is a recipe for disaster. I have seen firsthand what these models can do and what they are capable of.
I understand her perspective, but relying on interviews with people bound by extensive NDAs is not a credible safeguard.
Again, I respect her. The real issue is the tech bros racing ahead with something that could reshape and potentially take over every digital aspect of our lives. Call it rebranding if you want, but it is coming regardless of how many interviews you conduct.
Even Geoffrey Hinton, the Godfather of AI and a Nobel Peace Prize winner, is giving the warnings.
