Man there are some major liberal vibes resonating here. It sounds like the major challenge being discussed is trying to make AI act in a liberal mindset. As soon as you add a value or weight to race the AI will be racist, as soon as you add a value or weight to sex it will be sexist because it was programmed to take those factors into account. That doesn't sound like something striving for equality.
