A few problems with this. Nightshade will be useless whenever new models come around, as it's designed specifically for current models. New models can learn data differently, rendering Nightshade useless. Another problem is, for this to be effective, the model has to be trained on it from scratch, which is just unlikely as most models train on danbooru scrapes from 2023 or earlier, when Nightshade wasn't really a thing. And ontop of that, for it to have a meaningful effect, it can't be just one artist here and there using this, it has to be a lot of them which is just unrealistic. I can use a normal model and train a LoRA on your poisoned art and copy it completely fine as LoRA is hardly affected by it. Nightshade is also a dumb concept regardless, ruining the quality of your images just because the artist is insecure. Just post it untouched, in high quality. You can't stop people from copying you either way. In the pinned comment you have you claim that the law thinks it's stealing, but that's just a single case from a newspaper, not a law. And there's more places in the world than just america. Also, comparing AI to NFTs is a bit moronic. NFT is literally just greed and crypto shit. AI art on the other hand, you should feel honored that someone wants more of your stuff. NFTs were bound to be shit, AI however will only improve moving forward. The part I like about AI is not having to pay outrageous comission prices for some pixels that make up a single digital image. 3:10 "AI is worse for the environment" Okay now put freight ships on that chart and see it be several orders of magnitude higher than training the AI model lol 7:50 The fact that you hate when people use AI to copy you but not when they try to draw by hand to copy you is pure hypocrisy. If copying with AI is "stealing", then so is copying with your hands. "At least they appreciate my art in some way" That is the very case for AI too. You think people would use a style they do not like? lol. 10:50 Very bad analogy you put there. Just because you like doing something, doesn't mean others should too. Maybe they don't want to spend time on art like you because unlike you, art isn't their passion, something else is. There's more hobbies than just art in life. Could also just be that they don't want to spend years just to get half decent results, or spend as long time on an image so they can move onto the next. Also going from the topic of stealing your art to the topic of using AI in general is kinda dumb. While stealing your art has some ground to it, using AI itself doesn't really, it's just the stealing part that would be "bad", as AI is literally just another tool, and artists complained the same way when people started going from painting physically, to digitally. In regards to stealing, I bet you've pirated movies and/or songs. In your pinned comment, you claim Nightshade is like an antivirus, that it gets updated and will keep getting better. This is actually pointless. You see, people generally upload their stuff once, so if people figure ways around Nightshade, your previous art is vulnerable, unless you expect people to purge their account and reupload every time Nightshade updates. Either way, antivirus technology is kind of a bad analogy as antivirus hardly ever have any important updates, it just flags everything with false positive and if you haven't updated it in 10 years you're gonna be fine, unless you download and run random programs in which case you'll be screwed regardless if it's updated or not. In regards to your art, your poisoning is quite ineffective regardless, because you've just now picked up poisoning and anyone can pull tons of your previous works right now and train on that. And it's very easy to tell what is poisoned, it looks quite shit. With your artstyle being somewhat flat, it wouldn't be that hard to remove the poison without losing any significant amount of quality. If there were huge smooth gradients everywhere, that would be another case. Though even a decent 1x upscaler designed mainly to remove artifacts can fix a lot too. If someone absolutely wanted your artstyle desperately, since you've shown now a video that contains image before and after poisoning, they can train an upscaler model specifically for that by taking image from this video. But that's highly unrealistic and too much work for someone to bother doing.
