There already was a hype on AI in the 70ies, which crashed because AI didn’t deliver - at the time by computational power. So the money dried up, the field went dormant again for three decades until GPUs allowed to run massive neural networks. It will probably be the same again. LLMs are nice toys, but they are limited by default.
