Why did their drop like a stone in 2022? If it wasn't some type of stock split, then their share price plummeted, and now is low, and has remain low for years. So a 16% increase or decrease isn't much. When we say overhired during the pandemic - where is the evidence? I mean perhaps the headcount was just right for the pandemic, and now it is higher than we need. Because it is 4000 all at once it seems like the company is in trouble, or it's to save money to Invest in AI, to signal to the market that they deserve a boost for praying to the AI gods, and save money to shore up finances for a looming recession. AI has already caused some large layoffs, but in several cases companies are clear this is to invest in AI - that's when they drop the ball and say the thing out loud.
