The argument could be made that AI art simply proves the death of the author concept so it's actually been a long time since the human element has played a substantial role in aesthetic appreciation. I think that's a BS position, but does point to the fact that after the "death of the author" care, ordinariness, and ambiguity were the core values of aesthetics not novelty. Unfortunately AI doesn't care.
