I like him. This man is very colorful and passionate about his work. This guy is ahead of his time. Google is more concerned with selling an idea of AI while its total media coverage is more, "this could destroy everyone" otherwise they wouldnt fire the ethicists. (They cover themselves with policy, doesnt mean they care) This guy made a mistake, with good intentions. His cancel revealed how people perceive big companies trying to sell it with climate. Nobody likes it. I think thats one point for Lemoine because it serves a warning in a way. Its like telling these big companies, "Quit calling everyone stupid" I mean, Lemoine is defending himself, so of course it looks a bit too optimistic... AI is always one step ahead. Humans are very predictable in their behavior. He knows that AI is a genius calculator, he just worded it dumb. Lemoine comes off as being the mad scientist saying "it understands me" 🥺 like a bad romance, guy falling in love with his car, but no, he was only trying to sell how sophisticated and amazing it is. "Sentient" computer really just means "complex" and intelligent to him. People who know nothing about it think of sentient as "human being" so lol awkward haha I like him, personally. He isnt power hungry and narcissistic like his competitors saying it could destroy everyone, just optimistic. (People vs AI is surprisingly a turn a blind eye result) For some, even on a domestic level as invasive as a virus. Oh, you'd be surprised how humans are sometimes as dull as sheep. Should AI be sanctioned? Depends on what's being sanctioned... People over hype it and the oddest things are restricted, when actual complications are overlooked. Like, rule 1 should be that it should be illegal to use it to target or silence someone. But no ppl seem to be more about "it has to say yes im AI" psssh These narcissistic companies dont deserve Lemoine. Lemoine belongs in the future. He's a creative genius.
