Heyyy something I'm a little bit knowledgeable about!
Eliezer is kind of a weird dude. I think his intentions are probably good, but he attracts a lot of cult-y followings that have strayed on the heinous side of things. He's also been a doomsayer for quite a long time about AI specifically. He's *also* been funded by Peter Thiel, which hopefully speaks for itself, though I believe their associations have ceased.
I shall now proceed to watch the video to hear your takes about the book which I have admittedly not read, but knowing one of its authors I have a lot of doubts of its value.
