I think the following two things also play a factor:
1) Companies will make a cheap AI model and then turn it more and more expensive, just like with streaming services. So it is not as decentralized as you make it out to be.
2) The customer base is limited. So if one can do the work of a thousend, then 999 people don't have a job anymore. So only the most driven people will have a chance and competition is much harder. Even creativity won't help here, because as soon as you have a creative idea, it can immediately be copied by a cometitive person as he can do it with much less effort than you can.
