I believe the first autonomous load was from Colorado Springs to Ft. Collins with a load of beer maybe six years ago. The truck was called OTTO.
Sad and disruptive as this will be, it is the future. Just like buggy whip and wooden wheel makers got futured out. My grandson recently became a truck driver. I never said anything to him, but I knew this was lurking.
Those who think that a driverless truck will be accident prone to not having a human behind the wheel forget that human truck drivers are involved in thousands of accidents every year. Some drivers are high on one thing or another. A driverless truck will never be drunk, or have his ego making bad decisions. I've witnessed that.
It won't be too long when all for hire vehicles will be driverless. Just in time for this old guy after my keys are taken away.
